Bike Rodeo and Wetlands...

So, tomorrow is the big day.  Forms, notes, emails, school newsletters, and all have led to this date...Before you read on, know that we are short of volunteers for each of these activities.  If you can come and help out...thank you very much!!(the rodeo is the first hour, so if you can stick around to help it would be very useful)
1)  Bike to School Day - Our school was a pioneer of this day for the board.  We have done this for many years.  Tomorrow everyone is asked to please do their best to bike, blade, scooter, walk, run, or skateboard to school (unicycle is ok too!).  We are trying to show how possible options other than the care are for getting around in our city and reducing our global footprint.
After a ceremony to start the day, our class, and the students from Room 216 (Dana's class) will stay outside to participate in a bike rodeo.  Some lessons about cycling will be taught/reviewed, and some activities will be set up for the classes.  Students who can not bring a bike to school are asked to bring a bike helmet so that they might be able to borrow a bike and get involved.  The bike rodeo will finish at approx 9:00am.

2)  Wetlands trip to MacSkimming - We will leave the school at 11:15 for the trip to MacSkimming.  Originally this was to take place at the River's Edge site, but, due to flooding along the river, we have had the location moved across the 174 to the Forest Edge site.  I have included a map below for anyone who needs to know where we will be.  The bus is scheduled to get us back to Churchill for 3:00pm.  Parents must make arrangements for pickup for after 3pm!!!!!!!!  If your child goes to an after care program, you need to notify them that your child will not be there for pick up at the end of day.

It is a wetland trip...so as the forms said, rubber boots are needed.  It calls for flurries in the morning (?!!) so dress in layers, and cover up skin to keep potential bugs off.  Litterless lunch, with extra snacks, and a full water bottle are needed!!  Make sure your child rests up, as it will be a busy day.
