OREO Moon Phases

To piggyback on the Oreo math activity of last week, we decided to do a little bit of science work as well. Although the grade sixes will not explore topics in space until later in the year, I thought it was worth taking a look at the moon phases where we are able to do this very cool activity.  Ultimately, I wanted them to find a use for the cookies were used in the math project, and not have to have them eat them :-)

We did tie phases of the moon to the grade 5 science topic of the human body during a brief discussion that linked lunar phases with menstrual cycle....
