Yesterday, the students in room 207 read about the Lirpa Loof, an invasive species of bird that is moving into this area. I told them that I was sure I had seen some with the return of the tbirds this spring, and after reading that they enjoy sweet things, especially marshmallows, a few of the grade sixes went outside to see if they could attract some in the trees outside our classroom window. While outside, calling to the birds, and holding up tiny marshmallows in their hands with track them, many of them recalled that they had done similar things with chickadees. The grade 5 stayed inside looking out well some of the sixes called again again, but unfortunately, there was no success. Read the bird‘s name backwards and you’ll be able to understand why they were not successful.
