Class Meeting

Thank you to everyone who came out for our class meeting last night.  For an early night in September, we had representation by about half of the families.  For those who were not able to attend, the overview of topics we covered is posted below.  I also posted images of a couple of handouts I had available here.  The first has tips on how to promote and support reading with your children.  I also included a photo of the immunization information handout I had here.  It has a useful website and info regarding child immunization from Ottawa Public Health.
One of the topics that came up regarded Group Snack.  The feeling seemed to be that families were behind the idea.  If you are not interested/able to have your child bring in group snack approximately once a month for the class (as I mentioned in our newsletter, healthy snack options like apple slices, veggies, bagel and cream cheese, etc are often the choices) then please email me and I will make sure your name is not on the schedule.  So far no dietary concerns have been brought to my attention.  Please let me know if this changes.  Chantal DeWitt, Luis' mom, has offered to organize the snack schedule (thanks Chantal).
One important thing I wanted everyone to be aware of is our reading program.  We already have two volunteers who are willing to regularly come in and listen to students read out loud.  I would love to set a goal of having each student read aloud with a volunteer once a month.  If you have some time in your week where you can join us, and have a student read with you, please let me know.
Regards,
Ray
